Will I carry my rucksack on the Kenya walking holiday?

by S.Rogers
(Boulder, Co)

How much luggage is allowed on the walking trip and will I have to shoulder my backpacks or can I leave some in the vehicles. If leaving in the vehicle , will I have access to the vehicle during the day or it will be until end of the walks? This is going to be my 1st time to Africa and I really want to be prepared.

How to make your Kenya hiking holiday comfortable
by: Anne Huysman , Ontdek Kenya

Hello Rogers,

You cover yourself if you ask all your Kenya hiking holiday questions before putting down a deposit for the tour. Make sure you get clear cut answers and you particularly read the "small prints" on what is included and what is not.

Now on your luggage:Many operators have back up vehicles ,donkeys or camels for carrying the excess rucksacks but you will need to carry your day park with your absolute personal essentials such as passports, tickets, wallet , travel related documents, photography gear, first aid kit, drinking water and your picnic box ? if this is not carried by pack-up vehicle.

For the abrupt downpours that may find you on the hiking safari trail, make sure you carry your raincoat in your day pack. It is of no help if the rain coat is in the back up vehicle or mules which may be a kilometer away from you.

For a consultation on your Kenya walking trip contact Ontdek Kenya safaris, we have 14 years experience on the walking, bird watching and responsible wildlife viewing safaris in Kenya.
