which is the best kenya safari park for wildlife photography safaris.

by Eric
(Perth, Australia)

We have 4 days in Kenya for wildlife photography safari in Africa - which are squeezing onto a business trip to Eldoret Kenya. We mainly want good pictures of wildlife animals such lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes and antelopes. We are torn between doing Samburu or Masai Mara. Which of these safari parks would you recommend that we spend on time in?

Photographic Tours, Amboseli ,Kenya.
by: Stanley C

Though from a one time visitor to Kenya , let me step in with what was the highlight of my Kenya photo safari: Without doubt Amboseli National park . It has many photographic subjects. Kilimanjaro ( though no one had told me it is only seen from a distance), the elephants are huge, huge, families. The giraffes, zebras, lions, buffaloes and the antelopes which one tends to put on a lower scale when you are so spoilt with choice.

What I also found very dramatic with photography in Amboseli is the dust bowls. With camera trick these gave very strange and unique photo effects.

My final word, even with 4 days in Kenya , I would go to Amboseli for a photo safari.

Photography Safaris Kenya, Africa

Going for the photography safari in Masai Mara national park seems the most logical thing to do from Eldoret. Not that Samburu national park is not a great for animal photos, but it is the travel time that is just much longer than going to Mara.

Just a thought . If you have interest in birds and scenery , you may consider turning your tour to a nature photography vacation and stay in the Rift valley lakes: Baringo, Bogoria . Distance from Eldoret is short , the areas relatively free from mass tourism , the Kenyan people and culture in these areas are very authentic.

Lake Bogoria national reserve has very dramatic scenery and you get pictures of animals such rare antelopes such as Great Kudu, gazelles, impalas and zebras.

Wind up the tour with a visit to Lake Nakuru national parks for photos of lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes and other plains game.

With 4 days of photo safari in Kenya and seeing your starting point is Eldoret , why not just stay in the Rift Valley lakes region. Go to Lake Nakuru national park and you will get good opportunities to take pictures of rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes , zebras , and antelopes. You will also find lions and leopard as other subjects for your wildlife photo safari. In Lake Nakuru national reserve have very good chances of taking pictures of flamingos.

Choosing parks for photo safaris in Kenya
by: Leting Haron

Masai Mara and Samburu wildlife parks are each great for taking pictures of wild animals found on Kenya safaris. The main point that will influence which park you will visit is the venue for your business meeting , Eldoret which is in the North Rift Valley.

To use the minimum time , your best bet is to go for your wildlife photo safari in Masai Mara via Kiisi and Sotik. This is at least 5-6 hrs drive. Going to Samburu is much longer as you'd need to skirt around the Rift Valley lakes and move to the North Eastern province.
