Online Bird Identification of African Birds Species
Herons, Egrets, Plovers & Sunbirds (Page 4/10)
Online bird identification is not another field skill that is being pushed to an instant online game. Truth is, there is no birder who would rather watch birds on the screen than in the field – never mind the bad weather, sometimes difficult terrain, strained neck muscles – they are all quickly forgotten at the life sighting of a new bird species or a reappearance of a familiar favorite. Any reference with color pictures and correct names of birds, when used properly, helps birders to be better in the field. This is especially important when preparing for a bird watching holiday to an exotic destination. Pick for example Africa – even starting from the premise you are conversant with birds in your region, color pictures for identifying African birds can raise your birding appetite of what to expect and also it can give you a species of "I definitely will want to see this one". This will mean that instead of accepting an itinerary of a bird watching holiday on face value you start to ask your African bird watching holiday operator on the possibility of seeing a particular bird. Grant it, you possibly have no experience or you have limited experience of common African birds species, so an online bird identification guide makes you approach your holiday planning from a position of "knowledge" – which is a real bonus. This website has names and pictures of common Kenya birds that are easily seen on a bird watching tour. Enjoy them but consider your bird watching guides have to measure up with skills that will definitely make your appreciation of the birds in the field rich. Sunbirds
