Besides the opportunity to see the wildlife , a Kenyan safari should fit the bill a holiday which is a chance for rest and recuperation.

There seems to be an established safari trend that game-drives start with the first light of the day , that is at 6 or 6.30 am, with the reasoning that that is the hour with the best game viewing opportunities as the animals are most active.

The down side of the early morning game drive is that you'd have to be back in the lodge by 9.30am for breakfast.

With this trend it becomes inevitable that there is overcrowding in the parks early in the morning and there after the parks are relative empty.

There is nothing to loose if you went against the trend and have a late morning sleep in and start for game drive at around 8am. You'd still see the wild animals and you'd have the park nearly for yourself. Personally I have had the best wildlife viewing outside the standard safari hours of morning and afternoon game drives.

As you will be traveling in group safari , the timing of game drives will depend also on the wishes of the other travelers. If it is a big group with several safari vehicles you might be able to gather a group on "late starters".
