africa walking safari and photo graphy tour.

by Honda
(Tokyo)

We are planning a walking safari to Africa but wondering if our photo equipment will be a bother during the walking safari. Should we bring our heavy tele lens or we just forget the photo graphy part and focus on walking safari.

africa walking tour and photo safari
by: Anne

It is possible to have a two-in-one African walking safari and a photo tour - the catch is in planning and having the correct ground logistics.

Depending on your itinerary , a walking safari ought to give you a wide range of photo subject; wildlife , birds , plants , local tribes and great scenery which is worth capturing in photo image.

To accommodate the photo tour and therefore use of your photo lens , you may have to cut down on the number of kilometers that you do on the walk. This will mean that you can spend enough time on the photo graphy and therefore justifying the carrying of the photo lens.

Outdoor photography when on walking safaris is a lot different than taking pictures from the vehicle ,even when the safari vehicle has a pop-roof.

The walking safaris give you a chance to set up your photo gear in open fields away from mass tourism . This is a chance you should not let pass.

Discuss with your Africa walking safari outfitter and let him moderate your safari itinerary to include opportunities for photography and also choose terrain that allows for carrying of the tele lens.
